In the beginning
I first started learning about energy and how it moves around the body in 2012. I studied 6 different types of energetic healing practices and felt it important to use what I had learnt and condense the teachings in a way that works for me today.
I feel when teaching how to work with energy and healing ‘Reiki’ is a good place to begin. It is where I began my teachings and felt as a core foundation it could be taught effectively to others.
I work with mostly now with Shamanic healing with the work I do but the principles are the same. By working with tools such as rattles, crystals, animal allies and the core elements (earth, air, fire and water) the body can be restored to harmony again.
What is life force energy?
Life Force Energy is a true deep energy that comes from the source of all energies and we as healers are vessels for this energy to work through so it can be passed on to others or for ourselves for self-healing.
This beautiful energy fills the entire body, organs and cells allowing the body to flow in health and vitality.
The energy in our body can become disrupted by negative thoughts, words or emotions from outer and inner stimuli. These negative thoughts attach to the bodies energy field causing an imbalance in the flow of energy.
The life force energy works on the body, mind, spiritual and emotional levels and flows within the body through the chakra system and meridians. The life force energy flows through the body freeing any blocked energy, removing toxins from the body, reduces stress and promotes relaxation.
When working with shamanic healing the energy comes from the 4 elements that make up the Earth.
The south:the energy flowing through comes from the core of the earth, and the animal ally is anaconda. When we work with this energy it is more physical.
The West: the element is water so the energy comes depths of the ocean the animal ally whale and dolphin , and connects us to our emotional body.
The North: connects to the element of air so the energy here is coming from ‘the astral’. Such as angels or ascended masters or the wind what is above the stars. This is source energy, and infinity.
The East: connects to the element fire the animal ally Puma or Jaguar. This energy connects to our mental thought processes. What we think we create.
The Heart: we are working with the heart of the three worlds the rainbow bridge the animal ally hummingbird and llama. This is what holds it all together as all can be cleared through the heart.
The client will lie down and the energy most needed will flow from the direction element or animal ally through me then into the client where it is needed the most.
To help with this process I would use a rattle, feather, chakapa, drum or crystals to help energy to flow more easily through the body.
It is important to note that the energy healing work I do is not coming from me, I purely act as a vessel for the elemental energies to flow through.
If anyone were to use their own energy to heal another and were not taught they would eventually become sick as they would be using their own vital life force energy which is limited compared to source energy that is unlimited.
Reiki (Pronounced Ray-Key)
Reiki is a hands on healing technique that works with the Universal Life Force Energy. It was introduced by Dr Usui at the end of the 19th Century.
When using Reiki for example the energy enters the body of the practitioner through the crown chakra. From the crown chakra it flows through the heart chakra toward the chest and out to both arms and hands where it is passed through the finger tips to the person being healed.
What is Chi?
The word Energy comes from the Chinese word term Chi, the Japanese term KI and the Indian term PRANA.
Chi is a range of different vibrations. It can be both positive and negative. Chi flows through the subtle Energy System or the Aura into the Chakra system where it is changed into a lower vibration Chi that the body can use. It then flows in motion back through the chakra system and once again out through the Aura.
Kundalini energy is the energy in the physical body. Chi can be affected by our thoughts and feelings and we can link with a higher Chi which links to spiritual experiences.
Positive and Negative Chi can be stored within the bodies subconscious mind throughout ones lives. If there is a disturbance in the flow of this energy in the body eventually it can lead to physical illness.
Simply by holding positive thoughts and releasing unwanted emotions this Chi can transform the body’s natural healing.
What is an Aura?
This is an egg shaped energy field that extends outwards in all directions away from the body.
The Aura is an egg shaped energy field that extends outwards in all directions away from the physical body and comes from the Greek word meaning breeze. The Aura varies in colour which is determined by ones mood or personality. The state of the Aura is shown by ones physical, mental emotional states.
The Aura is invisible by most but some are able to see it. The aura is denser closest to the body and becomes thinner as it expands away from the body. Most human auras expand from one to five feet from around the body but as one becomes more spiritually developed it can expand up to 50 feet from the body and sometimes further.
There are 7 layers to the human aura which blend into one another. These layers may also be termed bodies.
All objects, animals, plants etc. have auras. Some can see auras some can feel them and each layer of the aura is related to its corresponding chakra.
The Human Aura
What are the Chakras?
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex. There are seven main chakras in the human energy body (as of recent there have been 6 further main chakras discovered with the new age energy but we will be discussing the seven main chakras within this course).
There are more than 20 minor chakras such as in the palms of the hands, the knees and on the soles of the feet.
It is said that wherever two or more channels of the subtle energy meet, there is a vortex called a chakra or a wheel.
Where major energy flows on the midline of the body in front of the spinal column these energies meet to form a chakra. They cannot been seen physically by the naked eye but some with clairvoyant abilities can see them.
Each chakra corresponds to a part of the body and if a chakra is out of balance it can lead to physical mental or emotional problems within the body.
Each chakra spins at a certain frequency within the body slowest at the base and fastest at the crown. As discussed earlier on page 17 when problems occur within the subconscious it leads to blockages within the chakra system. The Chakra system connects
to the body by the Central Nervous System and the Endocrine system and so these blockages of energy result in the disease in the body which if not dealt with will lead to physical illness within the body.
Grounding and Protecting
During our treatments and on a daily basis we need to make sure we are centred and balanced so that we connect with the Earth that supports us and so that we don’t take on the energy of others. As a result we remain in our own bodies and won’t be so open to negative energies of others.
Have you ever noticed when you speak to a friend who needs your support and after talking to them you feel drained of energy, this is because they have linked with your energy and taken some of your energy from you. So being centred within our body and protected will stop this occurring. It is vital for healing treatments so we are protecting ourselves and our patients from picking up these energies. As a result this will give us more strength, more balance. It will create a bridge between our higher self and guides.
As it is important to ground and protect yourself it is as important for me to do the same with my client. Just as your energy can be accessed if not grounded and protected so can theirs.
When attuned to spiritual energies like Reiki it will affect your energy levels and you will become more vulnerable so it is vital for your wellbeing. The more spiritually aware you become the more sensitive you will become to energies around you.
Symptoms of not being grounded:
A feeling of being spaced out
Daydreaming and hallucinations
Falling asleep during meditation
Having lots of ideas that don’t materialise
Arguing but not getting your point across
Being noise and light sensitive
So how do we ground ourselves?
Eating food (dark chocolate is great)!
Walking especially barefoot outside in nature
Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi
Gardening or being within a garden
Visualisation and meditation practices
Working with tools e.g. black or earthy coloured crystals
I hope you have found this useful on understanding the healing techniques I use why and how I use them. I teach Reiki (Usui System of Natural healing) levels 1,2 and 3. If you would like to know more information about Reiki teaching or about what I do please get in contact with me on.
